abu ghraib arias is a chapbook of poems by Philip Metres. It is hand bound and printed in an edition of 200. The cover paper was made from old military uniforms by Chris Arendt through The Combat Paper Project.

Philip Metres is the author numerous books, including To See the Earth (Cleveland State University, 2008), Come Together: Imagine Peace (Bottom Dog Press, 2008) and Behind the Lines: War Resistance Poetry on the American Homefront, Since 1941 (University of Iowa Press, 2007). His work has appeared in Best American Poetry, and has garnered an NEA, a Watson Fellowship, two Ohio Arts Council Grants, and the Cleveland Arts Prize in 2010. Chris Arendt is a papermaker, paper artist and veteran who served part of his term in the Army at Guantanamo Bay. He also spent 15 months, the length of a modern Army deployment, collecting stories as a homeless veteran. Visit him at The Paper Trail.

Kate Schapira lives in Providence, Rhode Island, where she teaches writing to college and elementary school students and makes chapbooks. She's the author of several chapbooks, including The Love of Freak Millways and Tango Wax (Cy Gist Press), Case Fbdy. (Rope-A-Dope Press) and Heroes & Monsters (forthcoming from Portable Press at Yo-Yo Labs).

The Saint's Notebook is a hand stitched book of poems, covered in burlap, and printed in an edition of 74. Every cover is unique, every poem is a bursting canyon.

The room was a bit sweltery, but the poems were fine and consistently more colorful than this picture suggests. Michael's first full length book In Ways Impossible to Fold is out with Marsh Hawk. It won their first book prize. You should get a copy and read it. It's damn good.

The green by itself didn't mean anything;
it needed shapes to inform it.

The long hope of the long hill—
the incline spoke, the hill didn't.

On the burnt dog-grass, at the foot of the V tree
its shadow drew an X. —Me, a denominator?

—No, you were the line in tree's fraction:
one present point where bird-life in the crown

divided by death on the grass, equaled a soul…
The hill curved, now in starlight.

There was a sensation of falling. And how the hill changed.
—& the length of hope? —Didn't. Only the soul—

The soul was painted over and over, like an outlet.

Ana Božičević emigrated to NYC from Croatia in 1997. Her first book, Stars of the Night Commute, will be published by Tarpaulin Sky Press in Fall 2009.

God, Sebastian, Amy is a 28 page, hand stitched book of poems printed in an edition of 74. There are three different covers with photographs by Shannon Davies and Tony Mancus. They are bound with red string!

I lost the tiny porcelain
lion on the lawn,
and after the mower passed,
his nose had vanished.
I became our leader, judging our predicaments
(the capture of the headless turtle, Shy),
declaring where to look
(under the deck), my face sore,
or gone, or stripped of function. After
my mistake, the lion
had perpetual congestion and couldn’t
pronounce his Ms and Ns.
“I ab kig of the juggle,”
I said with authority. I wanted
to be real, to prove the world—
mind from all sides.
